Welcome to DAY 3 of the Anthropologie knock off challenge!! I am SO excited to be a part of this challenge brought to you by an amazing group of talented bloggers. Every day this week we will each be sharing a project inspired by Anthropologie. Today I am sharing my Nail Polish Swirl Glasses for $5!! I am also featuring knock off designs from my fellow bloggers below, check them out….. simply click the picture to visit their post.
My third challenge project are these Swirl Painted Glasses. If I could do this project again I would do it differently. I was in a bit of a hurry and I was not careful with my technique. I think these could look really GREAT if more time is taken and more clear nail polish is used. The original anthropologie version is here
Here is how I made these, pretty darn simple
Step one: Mix clear polish with colored nail polish. You can use a ratio of 2:1.
Step two: Paint the color on using the nail polish brush (do not use a paint brush, I tried and it does not work well).
Step 3: Spray the outside of the glass lightly with a clear finishing spray. * Do not use the spray pictured below. I used it on the first glass and it was terrible. Thick, bubbly, bad. For the remaining three glasses I used a normal clear spray, just a little, and it worked well.
I have washed these in the dishwasher a few times and they hold up just fine, no signs of wear and tear at all.
Use the below spray or something like it.

Not a huge success… not a huge fail…. they are ok, but I think there is much potential with these. If I had time and more clear nail polish I would do this again and try to make them really great.
Throughout the week You will see all of our projects being pinned to our Group Anthro Pinterest Board along with the original anthropologie designs. Go and check it out…
