Paint you can eat?! Yes please! This edible yogurt paint was perfect for my 1 year old Scarlett since we have been limited in our crafting due to her obsession of putting everything in her mouth. This “paint” is perfect as a backyard outdoor activity you can do on any surface.
Ingredients: Yogurt & Food Coloring!
I only had flavored greek yogurt in my fridge which worked but Im sure the white plain yogurt would be best for color. I used an egg carton but now Im realizing small separate tubs might have been better since she dumped the egg carton soon after we got outside (good thing it’s easy to make more!).
I used Wilton Food Coloring which is the absolute BEST food coloring for anything, it lasts forever. 8$ for 8 colors, get from Amazon HERE. Only put the tiniest bit of color! Your child will most likely get this paint all over them and you don’t want their skin to turn rainbow. Or maybe you do? Might be fun. Which reminds me, make sure they are wearing crafting clothes as this does not wash out. I plan to write DIY Art Smock post for kids soon, will add the link here when I do.
And Voila, edible paint!!
We started out painting the wall but she quickly moved to the grass, her arm, her pool toys etc.
Naturally she decided to chase me around with the paint which was fun for a minute but I really did not want to get any on my new jeans! After a minute of chasing poor Scarlett started to cry because I would not let her catch me lol, so we had to refocus the attention back to painting.
Our painting ended in bark collecting, bath time then nap. Clean up was as simple as hosing down the wall and throwing clothes in the wash. This edible paint is a cheap (free in my case since I had the ingredients!) and easy backyard activity to do with a toddler!

OMG what a fabulous idea! Wish this was around when I was little! Looks like you guys had lots of fun!

Great idea!! My boys LOVE yogurt! Might have to wait for it to warm up, though so we can do this activity outside! Thanks for the idea!!
