Welcome to DAY 1 of the Anthropologie knock off challenge!! I am SO excited to be a part of this challenge brought to you by an amazing group of talented bloggers. Every day this week we will each be sharing a project inspired by Anthropologie. Today I am sharing my Spoon Plate Stand that I made for FREE!! I am also featuring knock off designs from my fellow bloggers below, check them out….. simply click the picture to visit their post.
My first challenge project is a Spoon Plate Stand. I was originally hoping to find some cool spoons at the thrift store to use for this but I could not find ANY so I used spoons from my house. Not exactly as cute as the anthropologie version but it was FREE!!
Here is how I made it…….
Step 1: Cut you hanger into 2 parts, getting rid of the hook portion
Step 2: Bend one half of the hanger into a plate holder shape. I did not follow any exact measurements, I just eyed it. Use a ruler to make sure to bend the wire at equal lengths.
Step 4: Paint the hanger to be silver. This is optional since the hanger does not really show but I had silver spray paint in my garage so I figured why not.
Step 5: Hot glue your spoons together at an angle that you like. Try to only do a little bit so you cannot see the glue
Step 6: Hot glue the spoons to the wire frame.
*** This is the point where my project temporarily FAILED. The spoons fell right over. Even with a plate inside there was just no stability and the stand was wobbly so I decided to figure out a PLAN B
Step 7: Take the other half of your hanger and bend it around the frame, cutting down as needed. Hot glue to keep in place. This will stabilize the plate stand.
All finished! What do you think? I love it, so easy and free to make! My kind of project.
Throughout the week You will see all of our projects being pinned to our Group Anthro Pinterest Board along with the original anthropologie designs. Go and check it out…
