Another product of our craft day this week. My girlfriends and I got together, ate mexican food, gossiped and made some great stuff! Besides this DIY interchangeable picture frame we also made Baby Footprint Valentines and Framed Finger Paint Artwork. A pretty productive day ๐
Alright so here is the original painting that was given to LeeAnn. The frame is killer, look at all of those details!? I always look for ridges and grooves in frames because I like to distress them and it looks great on those details. I actually really love the gold frame as is but Iโm a sucker for gold.
1. We sprayed the frame with primer and painted purple, sorry I didnโt take pictures of that.. I was busy stuffing my face with mexican food and keeping the kids occupied.
2. LeeAnn mod-podged craft paper on top of the original painting, overlapping the pages about 1″.
3. Next we figured out what the picture layout would be (using some of my pictures I had laying around) so that we could space the paper spring clips properly. I ended up giving LeeAnn the wrong measurements and messed up the spacing on the end row, OOPS. I was totally sober too. Sheesh. Maybe I should drink next time, it might actually improve my math skills.
4. Hot glue on the spring clips
And Voila! A new interchangeable picture frame upcycled from a painting.

I really like this project 1) because it looks pretty simple (except for the math, lol) and 2) because you can change out the pictures when ever you want without damaging them. I love that you upcycled an old painting too. This would be really great for a holiday decoration too, as it would be easy to switch out the pictures with a theme, especially if you kept the background simple. Great idea!

Thanks Alex! So many different ways you can do this. I am excited to do my own after helping my friend with this project
I love how yโall didnโt even take the frame apart but just painted and papered right over it! Awesome project! Now if I could only get some pictures off the camera and phone to have them printed! ๐
